Aniki’s “Superfly” brings together so many disparate feelings into such a pristinely textured, whomping banger, I can just hardly believe my ears! That synth bend at the beginning of each measure puts this beat on the map, but it’s the minimal percussion that really sells it. Aniki came up on some world renown through a remix contest not too long ago, and after chugging away at one masterpiece after the next, this “Superfly” remix may be his greatest work yet, despite the fact that it’s somehow listed as “Indie Dance / Nu Disco” on Beatport. Hah, yeah right… This is straight up House, baby.
A bit darker, but some seriously kickin’ stuff here. “Evolution” is at least partially about the evolution of Dylan’s productions. More techy than most of his previous releases, “Evolution” keeps in line with the Holshausen style (hear the FX sweeps?) while exploring a markedly different sound.
In the past week I’ve definitely fallen behind on some blogging. I’m going to attempt to catch up by offering some music that touches down on a bunch of different genres — perhaps a “cocktail” of sorts. Not going to go into lengthy details on each track, just know that this is CYV™ and you best be grabbin’ all these things!
Discovered these cats through Soundcloud. This tune is a massive dub face-melter. They are also the reason for the awesome post image! Dead Commies – Molotov3
And this last one is a bit hard to define. I’d say it’s something along the lines of “Fidge-Hop.” It’s dope as all hell — perfect for droppin’ a hip hop vocal over. I might make an attempt in the near future! (And possibly an attempt to produce something in this realm) Sean Taylor – Curious
Gotta play a little catch up here. Been falling behind on answering blog e-mails and even digging, so here comes my attempt at a mega post! I’m not going to go into any descriptions of the tracks aside from genres.. probably not very blog-worthy of me, but I’ve got a truckload of design to catch up on before the oncoming wave of textbook mayhem swallows me alive! Yes yes..school is starting tomorrow. Last semester though. Boo yah!
This past weekend I had the pleasure of DJ’ing with a fellow named Ardalan. He currently DJs as a duo with another gentleman under the alias Ardpehr. And why was the experience a pleasure you may ask? Well fellow blog readers, Ardalan Noghre-Kar recently released a track with a certain Justin Martin. This little track, entitled Mr. Spock, was actually in Martin’s past essential mix and is quite the hitter! It was definitely an honor to meet this kid, as I know much is in store for this young producer. I don’t have a promo copy or anything for you, but you can check out this tune care of Pete Tong’s essential tune via soundcloud.
Really great stuff here! Don’t forget this cats name because he’ll be back around with some more fire; I’m sure of it!
And on the lighter side of things, you should check out this podcast series over at WhatPeoplePlay. They hit me up a couple weeks back with news on Wolf + Lamb and I never quite got around to posting, so check that one out too! The website is superbly designed and you shouldn’t hesitate to show ‘em some love! The latest installment comes from Marcel Knopf. Groovy, downtempo, and deep is the name of this mix. Throw this one on at 10AM when you’re posted up behind that computer like I am!

In my last post I forgot to write about the forthcoming Ghetto Funk EP from Baboon Tunes, so I’m back to drop some knowledge real quick-like. The EP features a host of great artists, such as Stereo Skunk, Teke Lips, and 6T9. All kinds of jackin’ tunes here, so keep your eyes out for this release, coming August 30th, because it’ll get that body twerkin.
You can check out the rest of the previews from the release at the Baboon Tunes soundcloud, here.
What up ya’ll? This post doesn’t have any particular theme to it except that these tracks are huge. These have been floating around the internet for awhile, so if you dont have them already, here is your chance to pick them up! These are definitely summertime party bangers, and they’ll make the crowd go buck!
JACK SM1TH, of whom I recently posted about, has been kind enough to send over the track that I originally posted as a soundcloud embed. Deep Sense is superb — a fantastic blend of all the right elements. Groovy fun-in-the-sun tech house with a little bit of wonk drizzled on top. He also passed along a jackin’ little number called Only. Really lovin’ this kid’s style right now! It satisfies the multiple personalities of electronic music I’m currently harboring; tickling my tech-house side and touching base with my love for wonky fidget sounds. Even my girlfriend, who spends most of her musical life jamming to indiefied grooves, turned her head up at both of these tracks. The first is still unsigned, so record labels need to get at this kid, quick!
And I don’t normally reference the artist’s from which my imagery came (mostly because I get them from image blogs and don’t even know), but I feel inclined to show Emil Kozak some love, because well, he’s a sick illustrator and designer! You should go check his work out while you listen to the above songs!
