Feel U

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Young US producer Myrryrs is the latest signing to Discobelle Records and his “Feel U EP” has been in the works for a couple of months now but still has us giddy with excitement. His influences are listed as the dark, the light and the drums. That holy trinity is certainly evident in his productions.

The title track “Feel U” sees him square off light, angelic r’n'b esque vocals and disco synths against stuttering bass sounds for THE late night club hit of the darker months to come. “C?U?M” is dark and brooding with a beat that is reminiscent of fingers snapping and a steamy trade off of eerie, pitched down telephone messages as vocals suggests late night encounters of the rated R nature. “Without You” continues on the darker side of Myrryrs productions. Light vocals emerge from a soundscape of whizzing synths and a slow, dragged out beat that inadvertently will make your head nod and your feet move.

The title track receives three remixes from acts spread across the US and Europe, they are full of vibes – albeit they’re all different. My vote goes to Teki Latex & Bambounou — it’s a truly sexy tune with a great bendy lead that sounds like a housey karimba. Clicks & Whistles closes in on second place for the remixes in my opinion — an bouncy and addictive synth line coupled with 80′s 8bit vibes take this one home!

Beastly Birthday Mix

I try my best not to constantly “re-blog,” as I feel that many blogs these days, whether they exist in the music realm or not, tend to simply be RSS feeds for other blogs. But, with that said, I obviously have my reasons for the next re-post: George Lenton’s Birthday Mix for Squeegie’s 1 year birfday celebration! Squeegie turned one year old this past April and had a bunch of different artists make them birthday mixes. So many big names jumped up to help with the occasion, so you’ll be seeing mixes from: Jamtech Foundation, Rumblejazz, L.A. Boxers, Neoteric, Sduk, Cntrst, (and also Squeegie’s very own) Brookah and MacGregor!

Lenton’s 9:28 mix is packed with 20 tracks, bizzy-bouncing all over the place. Some real excellent mixing here, as Lenton proceeds to flawlessly jump from genre to genre, covering the grounds of hip hop, drum and bass, house, and of course, dubstep. Top-notch stuff here folks! Tracklisting after the jump.

Big ups to Squeegie for letting us host a direct download!
