Ean Golden Live Performance @ Bangers & MASH, SF

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Tomorrow CYV is lucky enough to host the godfather of digital DJin and the controllerism movement – Ean Golden – at our San Francisco monthly – Bangers & MASH. We’ve been working on this event for quite some time and its gonna be HUUGE !!

Ean’s accomplishments in the DJ industry are world renowned. He introduced the midi-fighter controller in 2009 with industry leading build quality and a ground-breaking mapping. Propelled by Ean’s mind-blowing live perfromances Midi-Fighter was an instant success. He followed up in 2010 with the Novation Dicer which is now the industry standard for digital vinyl djs. One year later Ean worked closely with Native Insturments to bring us a product that literally reinvented digital DJing. Traktor S4 is to digital DJin what the iPhone was to cellphones, hands down the most revolutionary thing to hit the DJ world in the past decade. Traktor S4 has gone on to be the number one selling all-in-one controller in a category it invented. Ean continues to bring us revolutionary product developments through his own djtechtools.com including revamped Midi-Fighter controllers, custom high visibility knobs, and a curated selection of dj accessories – only the best of the best.

His live performance uses a palette of custom controllers: various bass heavy genres are effortlessly blended together into a show that merges art and technology in a meaningful way. Part rock show, part controllerism performance and part dj journey, Ean really puts everything on line at every performance taking it far beyond a traditional dj.

For those of you who dont speak computer let me translate:

The Polish Ambassador is a beat machine from the future. Hailing simultaneously from the far reaches of other dimensional Universes and… Oakland, California, this dude drops his own unique blend of electro-funked, glitch-tweaked, wobble-freaked breakbeats that will have you dropping that bottom like it was 92…..3092, that is.

The Ambassador builds all of his live sets from a monstrous stash of original drums, bass, synth, and vox lines. “No Genre Left Behind,” Sugalski jokes as he blends elements of funk, glitch, idm, hip hop, 80s music, jungle, and dub into a beat soup that will instigate healthy doses of booty shake and fist pump.

Claiming to be Poland’s ambassador to the Universe, Sugalski has released 5 studio albums, all independently. Diplomatic Immunity in 2007, The Phantasmal Farm in 2008, I Found Him. Now I Must Kill Him in 2009, Mating Season (released under the Ample Mammal alias) and First Words in 2010. All 5 albums have obtained favorable press and achieved regular rotation on college, independent, and internet radio.

Its now 2011 and The Polish Ambassador just finished transmitting his latest album to distribution centers all across the galaxy. Its human readable title is ‘Future, Sex, and Computers’. It has already been responsible for massive system failure in computer systems throughout the globe, the most heavily hit region to date has been Northern California. The Polish Ambassador takes care of his people and just last week offered the whole album for free on bandcamp.com, and today its available for only 10$.

In the spirit of a true ambassador he has extended an olive branch to the rest of the world via his plentiful free downloads on his soundcloud page:

Most important of all, if you reside in the San Francisco earea - TONIGHT he will be addressing the nation @ Public Works (14th & Mission) – Bikes & Beats - and best of all attendance is only 6$(Presale) 10$(Door). This is the OFFICIAL album release party for SF, and if your into bikes this event is a collab with SF Bike party and there will be bike geeks in attendance to geek out with and help fix your busted whip. If you know me then – you already know mayne – ill be there glitching out.

Calvertron live @ Public Works recap

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Calvertron live @ Public Works San Francisco 2/19/2011

Calvertron came through to Public Works’ a few weeks ago. Repping hard for the bangerang crew he layed down a serious bass assault. Somewhere in between dubstep and bangers Calvertron’s tracks have bassy yet fully developed acid riffs. The video can’t do the tracks justice nearly as well as the Funktion One speaker system that public works has installed. Photo set of the night can be found here.

Calvertron has been picking up steam lately with some quality mainstream remixes:

Whip My Hair (Calvertron Remix) – Willow

Blame Game (Calvertron Booty) – Kanye West

and a remake of Buy Now’s club hit ‘Body Crash’:

Calvertron – Everybody [youtube]

Calvertron – Everybody (Figure Dubstep Remix)
