Oh snap! K.I.H.T. is back from the dead, bay area style! On today’s plate we have Young L from the pack out doin’ his thang on this new joint, Young L-E-N. This beat is just ill. It’s got some break-beat dubstep type stagger and some definite electro influence too.

I will say that hyphy has been on point with the addition of electro-type noises into their music for a long time now. It was certainly an element that drew me into the music. Here’s an example:

Just listen to that beat — straight fidget wobbles! And that was circa early 2008. It’s a shame that the movement lost so much steam. Shitty promoters and DJs around the bay ruined it for everyone! 94.9 and 106.1 are laiden with auto-tune and R&B bullshit on the regular. It’s quite unfortunate.

Anyways, the lyrics could use some work, but the video and beat are just redic.

So we are a little belated in celebrating dirtybird’s 5 year anniversary (Arpil 2010) but there’s always time to give some props. Dirtybird is based out of SF and they consistently drop fire. Their catalogue covers a wide range of genres from house to tribal, over to hyphy and back again, but one thing is for sure – the basslines are always heavy hitting. Dirtybird’s label artists Claude von Stroke and the Martin Brothers (Justin and Christian Martin); as you know, they have some major hits under their belt. For their Five Year Anniversary they dropped a triple CD split up into ‘The Past’ ‘The Present’ and ‘The Future’. Lots of amazing production throughout, with ‘The Present’ being mixed  by DJ Justin Martin. As you’ve probably noticed, we are no stranger to the likes of Dirtybird – check out the latest Fresh Kuts mix, which features one of my current favorites – Crack El (Justin Martin’s Stoopit Crunk-ill Hyphy Mix).

I also got this video for you kids. You thought the last video was gangster? This next video is straight explicit…some real “hood shit,” if you will. Turf talk has a really distinctive style, spittin’ his rhymes all crazy-like. Anyways, enjoy.

And finally, stepping out of the land of short yellow buses, I bring you a big tune from the Young Problemz with Gucci Mane & Mike Jones. The driving vocal loop in this song absolutely murders Lil Wayne’s A Milli (not the biggest Wayne fan…although that song was kind of sick). Not to mention the beat! That shit slaps you in the face! It’ll slap in your ride too. Or your earbuds. Or even your Macbook. Throw this one on and the Top-40 hunniez will be booty poppin’ on yer face in no time.

And lastly, I’d like to apologize for my general lack of posts. I’ve got KIHT goin’, so I’ve been feeling obligated to make these happen. This is supposed to be an electronic music blog and I haven’t  been posting as much in that area. Oh My! here with my second installment of K.I.H.T. I’m coming back with some more hyphy-muzak. The first is from Bay Area kingpin, J-Diggs. I’ve been down with this track for awhile and I think it has a lot to do with the vox loop from Mac Dre. Something about a nice vocal loop in hip hop that gets me goin’ — probably something to do with my love for all that is electronic. Anyways, the beat is hard as fuck and the rhymes are nasty.

Next up is some crazy kids making some really weird stuff. I really wish I could nab this acapella and grab some loop / vox material, but I’m not quite sure how to get a hold of it.
