Puddin’ It Down

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Hijack is doing it right as usual. Today he brings us a brand new beat under the awesome Busta Rhymes sample he used previously in a collaboration with Santiago & Bushido. He titles the track “Pudding,” a potential obfuscation of the words in the sample (puttin’ it = pudding it), and uses a photo of Bill Cosby eating some kind of Jell-O pudding product as the artwork for the song. What more could we ask for?

A special treat are the pleasantly panned grinding gremlin sounds that enter at both 1:47 and 3:50.

“Weapon” Remixes

Monday, November 7th, 2011

This morning Jack Union Records released three new takes on Dom Martin‘s 2010 slapper, “Weapon.” As if the original wasn’t bangin’ enough, they threw Tom EQ, Hijack, and Vukasin on for the remixes. All four versions guarantee a funky time!

Tom EQ’s version is especially bouncy; I think he literally used a recording of a basketball hitting a wall and layered it onto the kick drum. Not a bad idea.

“Weapon” and its remixes have already received support from:

Mark Farina (Om), Shir Khan (Exploited), Ardalan (Dirtybird), Inland Knights (Drop Music), Trevor Loveys (Dubsided), Hijack (Jack Union), Kissy Sellout (Radio One), Elite Force (U&A), Tom EQ (Jack Union), Neoteric (Dubsided), Malente (No Brainer), DJ Mes (Guesthouse Music), Tittworth (T&A), Jeff Doubleu (Jack Union), BeatauCue (Kitsune), Kimba (Jack Union), Chris James (Coat of Arms), Judge Jules (Radio One), and many more.

Sub Sounds Compilation Vol. 1!

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Just got wind of this compilation release from Bone Idle Records! Such heavy-hitting stuff, my favorite cuts being from Byron Fortune, Azverento, Sean Taylor and Schenk. P.S. I think Azverento really likes Hijack.

Here’s the official word from Bone Idle:

“We got a fantastic compilation album to round up August for you. Bone Idle has been collecting some awesome one off tracks and we decided to showcase them all on our first compilation of the year. We aimed to bring you a collection of sub focused jacked up tunes, and we think we did pretty damn good! There’s some new faces such as J Fader, Dizzy K, Sepehr & Applefly and some familiar ones with Schenk, Sean Taylor and Azverento. 9 tracks of wonderful bass. Help your ears and take a listen.”

People love music

b2ef4f5d217fada4de4a217af1619b4e

It’s been a hectic 2 weeks, so big ups to A+ and sofa for keeping the blog running. Thanks to everyone who made it out to our party this past Saturday — We had quite a fun night with everyone! I do have to apologize for not taking any pictures though… My camera wasn’t working for some reason, so we unfortunately will not have any pictures from this month. This issue will be resolved by next month, so no worries! Again, big thanks for coming out!

Now, on to the music:

First up, we got some new stuff coming from Flufftronix. Flufftronix (aka Michael Lasday) is a Chicago-born, Philadelphia-based DJ, producer and party starter. A master of contrasts, Fluff is adept at dispensing face-crushing soulmelters (quoth Lil Jon on Fluff’s track Filthy Angels, “That shit just make you wanna punch the shit outta some motherfucker!”), sensual luvstep grooves and everything in between.

The xx – Infinity (Flufftronix Remix)
Logan Lynn – Feed me to the Wolves (Flufftronix Remix)

And dennn, Wongo! Ohhh Wongo… you’re jackin’ fidget sound is just what I need!
Justin James – Jack With Us (Wongo Remix)
Tricky – Council Estate (Antonelli & Wongo Remix)

Bonus:
Kenny Larkin & Shlomi – Sketches (Shlomi Aber Version)
Hijack – Massive (Sick Jargon Remix)
Hijack – Nuts (Jeff Doubleu Remix)

Feels good to be back! And it’s the damn summer! Time for day parties, summer massives, cold beers, good tunes, design, Jackie Ngo, mad blahggin’, and maybe even a little bit of Hyphidelity.

Keep’n it Real

eb13f2755d289f009c09be58df75d590382c19ec_m

HiJack..oh HiJack! I was prompted to invest some research time on the UK-based producer as I was browsing Squeegie last week. Before I started my conquest I also realized that I haven’t posted the Oliver $ remix of Keep It Real (hence, the post title). Anyways, his newest EP, Way Back, with tech house power duo Santiago and Bushido is just delightful! Puttin’ It Down has this great, bouncy tech house feel, with percussion that just cuts through the mix like buuuutter. Not to mention the most superb placement of a Busta Rhymes lyric — the lead vocal stab is perfect! Hmmm! I’m only posting this one, so you’ll have to pick up the whole EP to hear all four tracks. Majority of these are in 128-192 range, so hit up Beatport and show some support!

HiJack, Santiago & Bushido – Puttin It Down

Got some extra goodies to throw your way too:
Acidkidz – Mad Mahoney (HiJack Remix)
The Loops of Fury – Flick a Switch (HiJack Remix)
Blatta & Inesha – Blow Up (HiJack Remix) [Thanks Squeegie!]
