Koan Sound | Akira (Megalodon and Supreme Remix) featured on BBC 1Extra Daily Dose of Dubstep

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Two of my favorite demolition teams from the Bay Area, punching out their own chunks of the bass music scene, are the rattling sounds of Supreme & Megalodon. They each have had their own feature on CYV, here & here. They are back at it again with airtime on one of the globe’s #1 music streams, the boys have had their recent remix for Koan Sound rinsed out by none other than Brown & Gammon on BBC 1Extra Daily Dose of Dubstep. Here is a clip of the track going off, stand up Bay Area and support local artists! Repost this link and spread the sound!

The Other Day I Gave Vaski A Ride To His Hotel

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

You already know a diligent CYV blogger wouldn’t waste this opportunity to ask one of his earliest dubstep heroes a few questions. Nothing major, this wasn’t an interview, but I did learn a thing or two. When asked what it was like touring the country, doing it big, seeing all the sights, he commented:

“It’s weird, but fun. When I tell people what I do they either assume I live in my mother’s basement and smoke too much, or that I’m someone famous. It’s strange there is no middle ground.”

If any one of you fine folks caught his recent SF appearance for Night Light Riot you got to witness the Minnesota badman bring down some major fire and brimstone. A set bolstered to the brim with rattling bangers & merciless melodies, Vaski shook the Black Door to the core.

His wild-child style is spliced with a humility & realness that is always appreciated among artists. The dood really just cut it up with me the whole car ride back. Support Vaski music.

Hyper Bass

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

Watchout CYV’ers, we got bangerangs INCOMING. Its a whopper of a remix by Minus for DJ Hyper off his upcoming album ‘The Panic”. It starts slow .. and then without warning .. its becomes a full on assualt of lightsaber bass – think Terravita. Track could have used a switchup for the second drop but Minus is definitely one to watchout for – myspacetwitter.

The End (Minus Remix) – Hyper

Round 2 of the assault comes from Hungary with ‘Beatman and Ludmilla’ taking their turn at the remix. It feels more like the original but with a bassline that’ll make Charlie Sheen shift into second gear.

‘First Name’ EP

SKR011_First_Name_Artwork_500_x_500

Staring off 2011 right, Sketch Records drops it’s first dubstep EP. True to their founding ethos (to bring you the finest Electro, Fidget, Dubstep and Breaks) this one has been in the works for a while now, as Sketch Records has dedicated itself to dropping only the filthiest of beats.

French Dubstep supremo Mr Wesh opens fire on this release which can only be described as LETHAL! All these tunes are larger than life, bringing you a dash of evil rhythms and a heavy sprinkling of womp. Where’s mah dubstep crew at?
