Save Sunday 010 | Dillon Francis, DZ, PropaTingz, Gym Class Heroes & More

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

“So I’ve picked up Save Sunday again. I’ve been extraordinarily busy, but these couple tracks really made an impression, prompting my return. Be warned this is hands down the strangest Save Sunday I’ve done so far. I’m Dabbling in the glitch-hop, mid-tempo range of the spectrum. Feed back and reposts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone, see you next week.

PS. I know I skipped Save Sunday 009. I really can’t explain that.” -joseph

For those of you who dont speak computer let me translate:

The Polish Ambassador is a beat machine from the future. Hailing simultaneously from the far reaches of other dimensional Universes and… Oakland, California, this dude drops his own unique blend of electro-funked, glitch-tweaked, wobble-freaked breakbeats that will have you dropping that bottom like it was 92…..3092, that is.

The Ambassador builds all of his live sets from a monstrous stash of original drums, bass, synth, and vox lines. “No Genre Left Behind,” Sugalski jokes as he blends elements of funk, glitch, idm, hip hop, 80s music, jungle, and dub into a beat soup that will instigate healthy doses of booty shake and fist pump.

Claiming to be Poland’s ambassador to the Universe, Sugalski has released 5 studio albums, all independently. Diplomatic Immunity in 2007, The Phantasmal Farm in 2008, I Found Him. Now I Must Kill Him in 2009, Mating Season (released under the Ample Mammal alias) and First Words in 2010. All 5 albums have obtained favorable press and achieved regular rotation on college, independent, and internet radio.

Its now 2011 and The Polish Ambassador just finished transmitting his latest album to distribution centers all across the galaxy. Its human readable title is ‘Future, Sex, and Computers’. It has already been responsible for massive system failure in computer systems throughout the globe, the most heavily hit region to date has been Northern California. The Polish Ambassador takes care of his people and just last week offered the whole album for free on bandcamp.com, and today its available for only 10$.

Future, Sex, and Computers – The Polish Ambassador [Bandcamp]

In the spirit of a true ambassador he has extended an olive branch to the rest of the world via his plentiful free downloads on his soundcloud page:

Free Downloads by Polish Ambassador

Most important of all, if you reside in the San Francisco earea - TONIGHT he will be addressing the nation @ Public Works (14th & Mission) – Bikes & Beats - and best of all attendance is only 6$(Presale) 10$(Door). This is the OFFICIAL album release party for SF, and if your into bikes this event is a collab with SF Bike party and there will be bike geeks in attendance to geek out with and help fix your busted whip. If you know me then – you already know mayne – ill be there glitching out.

Hide ya kids & Hide ya wife

Cus these new tracks from PANTyRAiD are already undressing them. PANTyRAiD – a duo between Ooah & MartyParty – are some of the west coast’s best bass chef’s who’ve been cooking up heavy, saucy, sickening beats since you sounded like a little girl.

CYV’s got an exclusive hook on their new Superior EP. It’s got 4 tracks; all have been fully baked in the oven with sprinkles on top. Each bassdrop gives you a lil taste of something different, but familiar enough to get you begging for seconds.

This first track is laid down on a tasty drumstep riddim 180bpm.
PANTyRAiD – Testarossa [192]

Here’s the next track, its got that eerie dark piano-step vibe, ya I just invented a new genre of music. Just like the name of the song you’ll have all the little girlies doing things they shouldnt.
PANTyRAiD – Jail Bait [192]

Call me porky the pig cus this track’s got me all covered in mud, super filthy. Ronald Mcdonald wishes he lived on this farm.
PANTyRAiD – The Music’s Not Over [192]

Title track off the new EP and worthy of a CYV exclusive, grab this one up cus its blazin’ HOT!!!
PANTyRAiD Superior – [320] [CYV Exclusive]

PANTyRAiD has one more stop left on their tour, its @ Lightning in a Bottle, LA, CA. If your in the area you know what todo, and keep your girl on a shortleash!

And don’t forget to support these panty-snatchin’ party-starters! Grab the whole EP on Beatport here.

22tape, MosaciChangeTone EP, art and tracklist

22tape is producer Jared Dunne who hails from the lovely state of Colorado (or is it Chicago? His soundcloud leaves me guessing..). He just released his Mosaic Change Tone EP, and as far as the genre goes, I’d say it’s best to quote him on this one: “downbeat vinylicious hip hop with a smidge of glitch.” My favorite track from the EP, by far, is Saloon Shagger. Littered with smooth sexy saxaphones, delicious organic sounds, and a glitchy break beat, this track glides you through a boddy-poppin’ journey into absolute bliss!

This release enters the ring with knockout big-names like Flying Lotus and Krush — and boy is this kid a contender. It took me awhile to get around to posting this, and I apologize for sleeping on it so hard. Glad to let this EP see some CYV™ love because I’m sure there is greatness in store for young Dunne. Fantastic experimental stuff here folks, so do yourself a favor, and pick up this whole EP…for free!

Rubber

rubber_cyv

Something I didn’t know about Mr. Oizo until recently is that he is also a film director and writer who goes by his real name – Quentin Dupieux. His latest film Rubber, which you can read more about here and here, is the world’s first killer tire movie!

A US release of the film is on its way but what interests me more is the music score which was produced by Mr. Oizo and Gaspard Auge (half of Justice).  An EP for Rubber was just released on Ed Banger Records and just the fact that it is new material from the Justice camp makes it worth checking out. The title track ‘Rubber’ is pretty crazy, reminds me of ‘Justice – Stress’ it has lots of glitchy tweaks and distortion, dropped at the right time it’d get the crowd bonkers for sure. Fly-lo’s take on the track stays true to the twitchiness of the original while adding his own signature twist. Listen to the rest of the EP on Beatport.

Beyond Monday

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Brandon Hirzel (aka “Bemo”) and The Glitch Mob proudly present “Beyond Monday,” an experimental installation of art and sound. Live electronic music meets architectural projection-mapping synchronized in the depths of the Los Angeles’ industrial district, painting life back into the urban landscape through the celebration of electronic music, motion-design and film. Cinematographer David Myrick captures The Glitch Mob as they play Jazzmutant Lemur MIDI controllers in sync with Bemo’s detailed visual creations. Utilizing the city as their canvas and technology as their medium, this is truly a unique collaboration. “Beyond Monday” pushes the boundaries of modern digital art and marries the latest technologies in electronic music, motion design and film.
