The discovery of these cats really got me excited. Very promising new material coming from 3D Criminalz. They’re a duo residing in London, and they caught they’re first break after winning the Wonked Records remix competition for a track called Don’t Give Up The Disco. I don’t think I’ve been this excited about the genre in a while — I mean, I hear lots of good tunes all the time, but this next track was a straight hitter. On a scale of 1 to banger, this tune is definitely the latter. Good lordy! Put that thizz face on and have yourself “some fun tonight.”
And because I’m feeling extra wobbly, nab this one up too. A plethora of wobble variation is served up in Sanka Coffee’s remix of Jimmy Raz’ Like That.
In my last post I forgot to write about the forthcoming Ghetto Funk EP from Baboon Tunes, so I’m back to drop some knowledge real quick-like. The EP features a host of great artists, such as Stereo Skunk, Teke Lips, and 6T9. All kinds of jackin’ tunes here, so keep your eyes out for this release, coming August 30th, because it’ll get that body twerkin.
You can check out the rest of the previews from the release at the Baboon Tunes soundcloud, here.
Baboon tunes comes hard with their new Stereo Image EP, bringing you a great collection of remixes for Schenk’s original. I think my favorite remixes come from Killafornia & Hunter Vaughan — and I’ll give honorable mention to Kid Tech. Nothing with a serious wobble here, just some really quality jackin’ house music.
Let’s not stray from our main focus here though; Schenk’s original sets the stage for all of these great remixes. A lovely melodic organ sneaks its way in around 1:50, taking you right into breakdown-town, all before throwing you right back into the washing machine. It’s after this drop that brings the blooperz — the proverbial icing on the cake! This tune is a definite contender on my playlist for this weekend! (Wake&Bake EOS holler!)
Sticky Damage is the collaborative venture between Oliver Leigh and Kid Filth. Oliver is quite the favorite here on CYV, and any song named “Trippin’ Balls” is definitely worth the listen! This track is a straight fidget acid trip, reminiscent of the intensity displayed in Geoff K’s Fluffy Pillow. The track begins with some choppy tech-house percussion, sprinkling in dirty female vocals until the big resonating grind sneaks its way in, only to be topped with some more dirty squelched-out wobbles. Ungh! Shit is just filthy!
Mmm yes folks, it’s that time of the year. Time for one of the most insane EDM lineups us Americans get to see. Time for nearly 100,000 people to pile into the L.A. Coliseum grounds and get super ill funk hyphy crunked mega blast stupid dumb! Furan and I are heading down on behalf of the CYV™ team and we’ll be sure to come back with a grip of new photos and videos for your viewing pleasure! That’s not to say we won’t be dancing our effing asses off all day and night, because hot damn, check out this lineup:
Today is a special day! Some great fidget house coming from a local artist based out of Monterey CA, Doogie Houser. If I haven’t said it enough, I really enjoy supporting local music, and not only is this cat local, but he’s pumpin’ out some fidgety fire!
The Eastwood Swing is a great mix of wonky wobbles, piano stabs, and punchy percussion. Very jackin’, very housey — very good. What a great movie to sample! The second track, Raisin Brand is a bit more high energy, stabbing some 50 Cent vox throughout and dropping in some bloopers here and there. Pick em upppppp!
And today’s special is: Beat Soup served with a fresh Bangeruette. We got some top-notch fidgetry here, from the home of the wonkiest pitch-bent house music you can get your hands on, South Africa. Baboon Tunes comes hard with great artists like Schenk, Oliver Leigh & Jeff Doubleu. They just released Jack of All Trades: Part 2 on June 7th, and oh boy is this some exciting stuff! I was at work when I happened upon the release, and I ended up listening to almost every single track on the Baboon Tunes Soundcloud. And hey, I’ll be honest, I really hadn’t heard of a bunch of these artists, but I assure you, Baboon Tunes is serving up some seriously jackin’ house music.
Unfortunately I don’t have anything but Soundcloud preview tracks here, but we may have some downloadable promos from the label in the future — so stay tuned and put on them listening ears for all these tracks!
