Experiencing major Déjà vu as I blast this quick write-up on yet another sucker free ticket giveaway from us full-time hype beasts here at CYV. Wasn’t it just a few months ago that we hooked up some lucky winners with the chance to see this moombahton menace live in action? Fresh from NYE escapades at the brand new SnowGlobe Festival (an icy fresh assortment of the most sought after names in electronic music) Dillon Francis is back at Manor West to give everyone another healthy dose of booty music.
Contest rules are simple: “like” our page, post the link to this article on your facebook timeline & winners will be announced Friday. The loot is 4 pairs of tickets (8 tickets total) so that makes 4 winners & their guests. Make sure you keep an eye out for us when we contact you!
IMPORTANT: In order to receive tickets you must have a valid email address.
One of your most promising options for New Year’s this year: the Snowglobe Music Festival in Lake Tahoe, December 29-31. The line-up guarantees three days of the nastiest dubstep, glitch-hop, hip-hop, and house. French YouTube mash-up star Madeon will be making one of his debut performances in the United States. Dillon Francis and Figure will be bringing in the exclusive new moombahton bangers in complement to their electro/fidget and dubstep roots (and a lot of drumstep in the case of Figure). Big Gigantic will represent the ever so common saxophone-with-live-EDM format. Underground glitch genius Dave Tipper will most likely be the favorite of anybody who’s had the pleasure of hearing him before. Porter Robinson, the 19- or 20- year-old electro house front-runner who’s been touring with Tiesto, will bring his sound to the Lake. “Community” TV star Donald Glover will be there as his rap alter ego, Childish Gambino. Also on the bill is Datsik, who was recently able to collab with the person who got him into bass music in the first place: Bassnectar. Bassnectar will be headlining the show alongside Pretty Lights, Thievery Corporation, and The Glitch Mob.
Check out the rest of the line-up here because the few artists I’ve mentioned hardly covers it.
The music-sphere is occasionally graced by a talent not only sought after and loved by fans, but respected and feared by colleagues and competition. Wether you like em’ or don’t care, these acts do their thing in a style and manner that is all their own. Daft Punk, Skream, Starkey, Chromeo, Burial, Jack Beats, Flying Lotus, these are all “producers’ producers” (pardon my simple terms). They have such unique sounds that almost no matter who you are, you have got to give them props. Recently a young Los Angeles export has set up shop in the greater San Francisco area and the music he has been making across the soundscape has received almost nothing but praise from some of the biggest names.
We first ran into Supreme when he hosted a Save Sunday, but since then the boy has gone crazy. Dropping an official remix for UK dubstep icon Dream is the most recent of his accomplishments on a long roster of feats including tours in Australia and the United States (Sydney, Brisbane, Denver, San Francisco). A top charting debut EP entitled Grimey rounds off just a few of the reasons why you should keep an ear and eye out for this local badman. Catch him lurking around, leveling clubs throughout the Bay.
When we last left two of our favorite musical mighty kids they could be found blowing up San Francisco venues, selling their own brand of twerked dubstep and broken beats. As we return our attention to K Theory we see a brand new monster. Boasting an even chunkier arsenal of original remixes and productions, this pair of American musicians have stacked a sizable list of proper EDM superstars they have supported in the last year. Sharing the bill with the likes of Feed Me, Avicii, Trolley Snatcha, Dirtyphonics & 12th Planet, it is no wonder the duo has a chart topping EP out on Beatport right now (Last time I checked, their single 18th Century Gangster was sitting nice & pretty at #2 on the Beatport Top 100 Glitch Hop charts). Catch up with the rowdy, bass bombardiers as they take 2012 by storm with scheduled performances alongside giants Dada Life & Nero. Expect a slew of top notch releases and remix works accompanied by the boys growing reputation for blood pumping performances.
We present two of the freshest K Theory projects, a free for all bootleg of Bay Area favorites The M Machine in company with an unreleased remix by Muffler soon to be dropped on Bass=Win Records. Listen, rinse, repost, repeat!
A line has been crossed, one of my favorite weekly bump and grind fest’s has brought my focus for the week to a screeching halt. All I can think about is seeing two of my EDM heroes throw down shredding sets for what will be a steaming, packed night at 715 Harrison Street, home of EPR.
First up we have Brazilian complextro maestros, Darth & Vader; almost never seen in the United States, the duo will be making a stop to brand SF with their own style of in your face, high-tempo, electro assaults. With a heavy stockpile of remixes & original productions you can count on breaking it down from the start of their set till the end, when a club music legend will take the decks bringing everyone with him on a banging, bouncy ride.
The Brookyln bass bad boy AC Slater will be up next, gracing all of us with his signature blend of bassline, fidget, and most likely some dubstep. I promise you it will definitely be very, very sexy as the Trouble & Bass record don always delivers.
To round it off, I will supporting my idols with a performance earlier in the night as Robot Mafia. Stop by, bring a friend, do something questionable in the shadows of a club. Here are a few mixes if you can’t wait to boogie.
