“I’m going to switch up the format for Save Sunday. If anyone wanted to see what they looked like before, Save Sunday 017 was my favorite over the last year. The new layout will be very different, however I’m still incorporating a monthly mini-mix of sounds I’m feeling. Every month we will select a charity. For every “Like” & “Share” on the original link the day Save Sunday is posted, I will donate 50 cents to the chosen charity. The first charity will be St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. As a precaution, I will lower or RAISE the amount donated per “Like” & “Share” at my discretion so that there is always a minimum donation every month & to ensure I can do this for as long as possible. Cool, let’s see how it goes. I’ll post a screen shot of the donation transaction, of course.
This is the first Save Sunday I ever did & it’s going to be the test rat for this week. I think it’s appropriate at the end.” -joseph
The best music is grown in California. Good In The Hood showcases the freshest crops of dedicated Bay Area musicians & sound engineers, each carving out their own personal piece of the musicsphere. Read up, listen, dance & tell your friends.
I found Carling Ruse during my daily Twitter rampage, curiously stumbling upon her Soundcloud whilst adventuring online. I was immediately floored. Beautifully woven melodies sing throughout a spacey dreamwave soundscape complimented by dynamic percussion & a tripped-out airy feeling of nostalgia. With only a few pieces uploaded to the cloud, I was inclined to contact her & thankfully she agreed to let me feature her on CYV. Show the girl some love: share, download, enjoy!
To the weekend warriors, the nightlife ninjas, and the curbside crawlers, we are with you all the way.
Here at CYV we encourage herbal remedies, Bloody Marys, and of course a daily dose of slap to aide all the aches, bumps, and bruises collected over your weekend.
It’s simple: Save Sunday is five songs, one mixtape, easy to play, easy to repeat, and of course download links provided for mobile enjoyment. All sounds get love so expect to find everything from booms to bangs.
Sundays never looked so good.
“We have a guestmix this week from my partner in grime Mikey Dropz! Big room house for everyone!” -joseph
Two of my favorite demolition teams from the Bay Area, punching out their own chunks of the bass music scene, are the rattling sounds of Supreme & Megalodon. They each have had their own feature on CYV, here & here. They are back at it again with airtime on one of the globe’s #1 music streams, the boys have had their recent remix for Koan Soundrinsed out by none other than Brown & Gammon on BBC 1Extra Daily Dose of Dubstep. Here is a clip of the track going off, stand up Bay Area and support local artists! Repost this link and spread the sound!

A new-to-CYV feature, we have an SF | LA wrecking crew comprised of Sinjin & Phil T, together they are Megalodon and the pair have been invading both US cities & UK airwaves for years. Goblin Shark is their newest contribution to the what is now an extraordinarily far reaching fan base. Sought after both across the pond and in our own backyards, it seems no one can get enough of the boy’s crushing sounds. The duo shatter stereotypes of American dubstep which is often considered notoriously over-the-top. Loyal fans push Megalodon to reach extraordinary heights. With plays and rewinds by dubstep icons Skream, Benga, N-Type, we couldn’t go any longer without at least doing a quick writeup and saying big ups. Support local artists!
You already know a diligent CYV blogger wouldn’t waste this opportunity to ask one of his earliest dubstep heroes a few questions. Nothing major, this wasn’t an interview, but I did learn a thing or two. When asked what it was like touring the country, doing it big, seeing all the sights, he commented:
“It’s weird, but fun. When I tell people what I do they either assume I live in my mother’s basement and smoke too much, or that I’m someone famous. It’s strange there is no middle ground.”
If any one of you fine folks caught his recent SF appearance for Night Light Riot you got to witness the Minnesota badman bring down some major fire and brimstone. A set bolstered to the brim with rattling bangers & merciless melodies, Vaski shook the Black Door to the core.
His wild-child style is spliced with a humility & realness that is always appreciated among artists. The dood really just cut it up with me the whole car ride back. Support Vaski music.
