Para One has really slipped out of my radar since I saw him rock the house at Le Bataclan in Paris two years ago. As of today he’s back in the crate!

The first 14 seconds of his “Romane” remix sounds like the intro to some played-out Dutch house gimmick. After that it’s all uphill as this jacked up groove quickly escalates with glitchy percussion and mind-bending synths.

More relaxed but just as mind-bending, “Toadstool” focuses on incessant popping sounds and the type of vox stabs that you would hear on an early 90s Yamaha synthesizer. This track covers a lot of ground and takes unexpected turns at every opportunity, so make sure you listen all the way through!

People often ask what kind of music I play, and for awhile I would explain that I play stuff similar to electro house. But… that really doesnt do it justice, and in my opinion there is no well established genre name that describes what I like to play, so that is why I am officially declaring ‘Bangers’ to be a new genre of EDM. Sound Pellegrino’s sonic identity is a paradox.
When I play the current house and techno music that I like to my French “banging electro” friends, they think it’s minimal. When I play it to minimal DJs, they think it bangs too hard. We love hard stuff when it’s creative and groovy, and we love minimalist music when it’s not boring nore serious. The first three Sound Pellegrino releases totally embody that state of mind.
