Sketchy Gifts

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Sketch Records is celebrating the success of its recent releases and 1000-SoundCloud-follower milestone by releasing three brilliant bangers to the world for free! Nicknamed the “1000 Soundcloud Followers Free-P,” this release abounds with monstrous wobbles!

“Kicking us off is an awesome collaboration between production supremos 3D Criminalz and Sketch resident DJ, Sketchy J – these guys put their heads (and their ears) together to create what can only be described as the perfect peak-time destroyer..!!! This summer, this killer-fresh Fidget remix of Double 99′s legendary RIP Groove is guaranteed to be stomping all over ya dancefloor….

Sketch artist Mr Wesh’s superhard ‘Rambo’ is armed-to-the-teeth testosterone-fuelled Dubstep lethality… once again, this Gallic maestro re-establishes why he’s the one to watch, as he digs deeper into the Dubstep underground…

Hailing from Copenhagen, Ronnie Flex can’t help but impress with ‘Something Clever’, a mere aperitif to his debut on Sketch later this year… this is unforgettably-euphoric mainroom Electro House at its finest, the massive ‘piano & chant’ breakdown a perfect accompaniment to the hi-energy squelching, chugging bass throughout… quiet simply, HUGE !”

Morning coffee, check. New studio and house set-up, check. Truckload of tunes in the inbox, check. New stuff to finally post after neglecting my author duties for two months, CHECK! If you didn’t already know, I went to Europe for about a month, you can check out my nerdy design hijinks here: http://www.thegreateuropeanadventure.com. Anyways, after a nice long break, I’m proud to be back to post some new tunes for you guys. Happy downloading!

Today we have a really fresh EP coming from South-African based Sean Taylor. Here are some words on the young’n and his newest release:

South African Sean Taylor only started clocking up his releases in June last year but he has already become a regular on the Jackin’ House scene and has seen his tracks come out on the likes of WoNKed Records, Flexual and Champion Beats. He’s already found his sound with deep subs, brittle leads and blissed out vocals and this Jack ‘N Boom EP has it all.

Pulling up the tempo is the one and only Matt Cox (Sick Slaughterhouse, WoNKed, Big Alliance). This one goes proper wonky after lulling you into a false sense of jack, have a listen, pop it in your set, done.

3D Criminalz (Sketch Records, Bone Idle, WoNKed) released with us way back on BIR001 when they remixed Carbon Parlour’s Wannabe King. They got a huge welcome back with their massive bass injected remix of Jack ‘N Boom, chuck in some old skool chords and you got the idea.

Byron Fortune (Flexual, Yeah Man) rounds off the remixes with a superb deep jackin’ remake including an awesome retro scratching to hell breakdown midway through. Look out for more of Byron next month on the very first Bone Idle Compilation.

In Ya Face

Monday, February 21st, 2011

London-based renowned duo Heavy Duty Brothers get right up in your grill for the first time on Sketch.

A constant in the Beatport Electro House Top 100 Chart since they got together in Oct 2009, these boys have released on Champion Beats, Ho-Ju and Sick Recordings — ‘In Ya Face’ is a stripped-back, irresistibly-danceable bass-heavy bopper that does exactly what it says in the title!

3D Criminalz show up again with a superb, funk-inspired basscentric Fidget masterpiece — with the perfect balance of breakdowns & drops that is integral to the 3D sound, this is another one to look out for!

Shuval is certainly sending a message, as he drops a simply COLOSSAL Electro House remix on this release! Influenced by the Deadmau5/Wolfgang Gartner style, he blends edge-of-your-seat synth excitement with his own impeccable production talent, unleashing his second monster remix on Sketch.

Check it out on Beatport.

CYV™ Turns One!

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

cyv-birthday

On the 22nd of September, we turned one year old over here at CYV™ (and yes, I know it is now October 7th),and for this joyous celebration, we have a plethora of goodies! We’ve come along way since the start of the blog — we really had no idea the readership was going to grow as fast as it did. It started off with just three members and was a place for us to post up tunes we liked; before we knew it, music was flowing into the inbox on the weekly. We’d like to thank all the readers who’ve been supporting us, especially those from our starting months, and also the many artists that have allowed us to share full quality material with everyone! Keep sending us your music!

We asked a couple of artists to put together some exclusive mixes for our birthday celebration, so thats how we can begin this post.

Bone Idle Records is a spanky fresh new label with more than just potential. Off the bat, they’ve pulled in some extremely talented artists, so I don’t think it’ll be long before the name starts making its rounds around the web. They started things off with the Protect the Innocent E.P. from Carbon Parlour, which features remixes from 3D Criminalz, Jack Smith, NS2, & Campbell (many of which have already been featured here on CYV™). Red Hot and Wannabe King are very much electro, so 3DCriminalz flipped the script and cooked up a wobble frenzy while Jack Smith and Campbell went for some more traditional fidget. NS2 switched things up even more with broken beat mix, which breaks up the styles a bit, showing everyone Bone Idle Records isn’t stuck on one groove!

Carbon Parlour – Protect the Innocent E.P.
1. Carbon Parlour – Wannabe King (Original Mix) [192]
2. Carbon Parlour – Wannabe King (3DCriminalz Remix)
3. Carbon Parlour – Wannabe King (Jack Smith Remix) [192]
4. Carbon Parlour – Wannabe King (NS2s Royal Scam Mix)
5. Carbon Parlour – Red Hot (Original Mix)
6. Carbon Parlour – Red Hot (Campbell Remix)

Direct quote from Claire Bradford, the label’s owner:
“For me personally I wanted this to be a label that doesn’t ignore new artists when they send in demos, so while we need established talent I also want to hear new guys on the scene and let them know that they will hear back from us and we will keep in touch as they develop, and we will offer technical advice if its needed. Our scene in the UK is very much the home made producer and there is a huge gap in knowledge when it comes to providing a polished piece of music. So if anyone reading your blog is creating the music we love, then they can send a link to their music to us at demos@boneidlerecords.com or drop us some music into our Soundcloud dropbox and we will take a listen and get back to them.”

You can also catch a preview of their next release for Andru Pozzatron’s Get On Up, right here!

Be on the lookout for this cat — Pozzatron has some very well-crafted, off-the-wall beats!
