Zip zurrrrrrrrp.

Hello boys and girls! This is Oh My!, captain of the S.S. CYV™, and I’m hear to tell you a story (..that rhymed. Boom!). I’ve been thoroughly preoccupied with finishing up my last semester of school, ever. I’ve taken my last finals, given my last presentations, and written the last “essays” I will ever have to write in my life. Let me tell you, it feels amazing! On top of all this, I’ve been busy working on various design projects and producing tracks non-stop. I let the blog fall pretty behind — this post consists of submissions from more than 30+ e-mails. Some of these posts definitely deserve their own spotlight, so I apologize for this cluster-fuck of downloads, mixes, and soundcloud embeds.
Let’s begin, shall we?
Check out this mix from Dallas-based producer LDFD. It’s chocked full of garage-glitch, with dubs and bass throughout. It has some of his originals in it (‘Outta Control’ is legit) and tracks from artists like Lazer Sword, Girl Unit, Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus and more. (Tracklist and download on the cloud)
Pick up these originals too:
LDFD – Outta Control
LDFD – Mucho Mango

Plump DJs tossin’ some gnarbles your way on this next one. Big remix by Will Bailey and a freebie from Punk Rolla following it all up.
Check it on Beatport.

Some real smooth jack from Jayye Jackin & Dappa D:

And yes, it as that time of the year. Time of the year for cheeky christmas remixes. This one is lovely though! Couldn’t resists opening up a track named “Carol of the Bass.” Big subs and some caroling? Sure, I’ll have that.

This mix by The Hats is pretty neat — it covers a lot of swing/jazz influenced music with tracks from artists like Renaissance Man, Eats Everything, TJR, Kyle Watson, Jeff Doubleu, Geoff K & more. Really my bread and butter here folks. My music taste has changed a lot since the start of this blog. Gone are the days of “banging electro” (although, a few tracks still float my boat here and there — Furan has some real nice stuffed lined up for posting in that department very soon). Anyways, jazz holds a strong place in my heart, and this mix is fire. Get at it! (Tracklist and download on the cloud)

If there was some special image or thumbs up system that we placed next to tracks to denote how awesome they are, then well, Kyle Watson would have like 14 next to every track or mix. This dude ALWAYS delivers. I somehow hope to be half the producer he is one day — his blending of the older days of fidget into the tech-infused jack movement is superb. Just the right amount of both.

3. Hugo – No Tu No (Original Mix)

Big dirty dubs from High Rankin. You’d expect nothing less from this cat.

Really slept on this next one. Was beyond excited to be getting an e-mail concerning the Jackmode crew. They sent over a bunch of cleared MP3s, so get stoked! Most of it isn’t new stuff, but if you haven’t picked up already, here is the place to do it. Also, if you happen to be in London, you should check out this party tonight:

Zombie Disco Squad – Hobo
Sacha Robotti – Tingly Trumpets (Oliver $ Re-Edit)
Riva Starr ft. Trim – Dance Me (Oliver $ Dub Mix)
Jet Project – Oya

Sick raps laid over some bass-booming beats coming from Brooklyn MCs Das Racist. Excited about this one for sure — these dudes got that ill-rhyme construction. I miss my days of underground hip hop and it’s something that used to be a much bigger part of my life, so it was refreshing to be sent some info on these guys.
They’ve got a remix contest going down right now with a submission deadline by January 18th. Winning remix will receive a t-shirt, signed CD and a bag of weed (they say they are kidding, but I half-heartedly believe them)!

Annnnnd next, we have the newest EP from Jay Brooks entitled the ’88 EP.’ Dropping on Bone Idle Records, the label that picked me up to remix Andru Pozzatron’s ‘Get on Up’ (which climbed as high as #13 on the DJ Download electro-house charts). Anyways, the tracks are quite bouncy and mostly fidget in nature, but the multi-faceted Jay Brooks switches it up, delivering a funkier side to his production abilities with ‘FYC.’ This EP dropped on the 13th and is available for purchase now. Support Jay and Bone Idle Records and pick this one up!

The guys from Bass Music Blog always bring the heat, and they have rightfully done so with this last release from HeavyFeet. They’re now exactly 3/4 of the way through their ’12 singles over 12 months’ project (April 2010 – March 2011) and this release has seen some great reactions from Skream, DJ Craze, AC Slater and many more. Following is a mini-mix of the release and a free download of the original.
HeavyFeet ft. Hanna T – Just Fall
Pick up the rest of these bass-heavy shenanigans at Beatport.

Remember my previous comments about being “over banging electro?” Well, I did mention that there are exceptions. Check out this monster from Peo de Pitte. (The original, for whom has missed it, launched off Fool’s Gold Records)
Congorock – Babylon (Peo de Pitte Ft. Chronz RD Remix)

And now we can take a look at some way chill dub from Reixtra. Lots of real-recording percussion to give these tracks a truly organic feel. And all of that is delicately layered on top of some low-end sub-work that will get those speakers vibrating! This is truly my favorite side of the dub/bass movement. I like myself a big heavy wobble, but these forthcoming tracks are beautifully-crafted and they won’t send your grandma running. Here is a the whole set of tracks on soundcloud:
Reixtra – The Zagrava EP (PROMO) by MORPH RECORDINGS
And you can pick this one up for free:
Reixtra – Khamsin (Altimeter Remix)
Following this release, Morph Recordings brings it hard with another EP from Defekt. The track ‘Dark Sunday’ was described as a “dubbed out, broken 2-step, sepia toned, sonic excursion – made complete by its spookily evocative vocal – will send chills down your spine… ”
Defekt – Dark Sunday (PROMO) by MORPH RECORDINGS
Pick the whole thing up on Juno.
We were also left with another freebie, a rework of the track my Defekt himself:
Defekt – Dark Sunday (Defekt’s Monday Morning Rework)
I highly recommend picking these releases up! (And the album art wasn’t half bad. I definitely would have posted it, I just haven’t done throughout this mega-post, so I will refrain. I’m sure they’ll be hitting us up with more goodies though!)

That’s about all I can get through for today. Still have some more e-mails to sift through and stuff to catch up on, but I’m basically caught up and the posting should now be on a more regular regimen. This post is literally so long that I maxed it out and had to remove two mixes. Those will be posted tomorrow! (Sorry Carbon Parlour and 6T9, it’s coming!) I’m nearly 4 hours deep into this massive post, so it would be much appreciated if you could hit the like button below, drop a facebook post or leave a comment — anything would be nice! Spread the good word; let people know that their vitamins need to be chewed, and on a daily basis!
Until next time,
