Mochipet twists up Hottub’s ‘Four Lokos Only.’ Electro-hop at it’s finest! And hey, it’s a track about the infamous heart attack in a can. Every college kid knows what I’m talkin’ about.
And here is the stuff that “overflowed” from my last post. What overflow actually means in this case is that I didn’t properly close one of my tags and everything beyond that portion got cut off. Cheers to my A+ web savviness.
6T9 chops it up with this new mix for SAFidget House — a blog dedicated to the fidget movement that is quite prominent in South Africa. After a long hiatus, they are finally back, and will be serving up that fidget fire on a more regular basis.

Carbon Parlour had the honor of doing a mix recently. Some juicy tunes up in this one, so give ‘er a listen. (Tracklist and download on the cloud)
People often ask what kind of music I play, and for awhile I would explain that I play stuff similar to electro house. But… that really doesnt do it justice, and in my opinion there is no well established genre name that describes what I like to play, so that is why I am officially declaring ‘Bangers’ to be a new genre of EDM. In honor of this occasion I picked out a few choice ‘Banger’ tracks to wet your earbuds.
I was recently informed of something that could very well effect the rave-culture of California, and potentially start a domino effect of action taken across the world. I would like to see massive events such as E.D.C. and the Hard Events to continue, so please take some time to read the following:
- – - – -
Oppose the New Rave Act (AB74)
Assemblywoman Fiona Ma proposed legislation yesterday to ban large electronic music events in California. In her own words “The introduction of AB 74 is the first step toward eliminating these dangerous events”. Read the full text of the proposed legislation at the end of this email.
Fiona Ma’s legislation is just one part of a larger agenda by the police and policy makers to shut down electronic music events in California. Our music and culture is being discriminated against and if we don’t stand up and fight, they will succeed.
Save The Rave is a group of electronic music supporters who are organizing to fight this and other anti-electronic music policy through lobbying, protests, media and whatever else is necessary.
Join our Facebook group so that we can communicate and work with you! We will need your help to fight back against these policies and show the State of California that we will NOT tolerate being discriminated against!
Please take some time to join these groups so that we can stop this nonsense! (And please kids, let’s do our best not to get absurd at these events. Hard Halloween ’09 was a horribly organized event, but that didn’t mean everyone needed to start acting like morons and jumping off the balcony into the main stage).
Hello boys and girls! This is Oh My!, captain of the S.S. CYV™, and I’m hear to tell you a story (..that rhymed. Boom!). I’ve been thoroughly preoccupied with finishing up my last semester of school, ever. I’ve taken my last finals, given my last presentations, and written the last “essays” I will ever have to write in my life. Let me tell you, it feels amazing! On top of all this, I’ve been busy working on various design projects and producing tracks non-stop. I let the blog fall pretty behind — this post consists of submissions from more than 30+ e-mails. Some of these posts definitely deserve their own spotlight, so I apologize for this cluster-fuck of downloads, mixes, and soundcloud embeds.
Bryan Barron is MANGLED BASS. Having produced music for only a year or so, he has already created a tantalizing and well-packaged sound – one that nothing could describe better than his DJ name. This is the sound of mangleage.
Barron, who’s from the Huntington Park area of LA, is humbled by his following and his releases on Backzide Records and Baboon Tunes. All he hopes for is a new laptop because his old one died and he currently has no way of providing us with more filth! So someone hook this kid up!
Our friends from Breakdown are pretty pumped these days as their latest remix soars across the globe driving its dirty but very accessible bassline through each of our bosoms. This Daft Punk rework comes at an all too perfect time as we near the arrival of “Tron: Legacy.”
In less than a couple weeks, the song has over 30,000 plays and 8,000 downloads. Meanwhile Paul Oakenfold has requested a special version of it for his own live sets!
What’s more is that the generous Breakdown brothers are giving it all away for free, just like their other recent tracks. Check ‘em all out while you’re here, and keep your eyes peeled for a Breakdown show in the Bay Area over these next few months.
Recently, Stones Throw records released an advanced LP of
Tony Cook’s Back to Reality. This record is an anthology of tracks that were released between 1982 and 1986. The single “What’s on Your Mind” featuring Dam-Funk has a synthy, funk, vibe a la “Me, Myself, and I” by De La Soul. Til next time…
