So this year, A+ and I (Furan) journeyed down to Coachella on behalf of the CYV™ team. We documented our entire weekend with photos and videos and ultimately had one of the most epic Coachella experiences of our lives! So many amazing artists came down to perform, and the way the event was organized even seemed to be better than last year.
Oh Coachella! How you are so much fun!
More Coachella highlights and videos after the jump: (more…)
Here is a reposted link of The Juan Maclean’s DJ-Kicks album. This is for those of you that love the groovy/ sexy/ spacey side of electronic music. Enjoy!
A CD review!? I know, I cant remember the last time i paid for a CD either, but the other day I stumbled across this preview edit of Do It To You 3 by Burlesque, and I was sold. If your into the b-more vibe, you’ll be all over this. Its got new tracks from Bird Peterson, DZ, Bassanova, Jimmy 2 Times, and others. Even if bmore aint your thing, theres a grip of sample worthy cuts to check out. Two of the tracks that stood out for me:
This one’s got an epic vocal hook sitting on a grungy bassline with some bmore styled breakdowns to keep you moving.

Brandon Hirzel (aka “Bemo”) and The Glitch Mob proudly present “Beyond Monday,” an experimental installation of art and sound. Live electronic music meets architectural projection-mapping synchronized in the depths of the Los Angeles’ industrial district, painting life back into the urban landscape through the celebration of electronic music, motion-design and film. Cinematographer David Myrick captures The Glitch Mob as they play Jazzmutant Lemur MIDI controllers in sync with Bemo’s detailed visual creations. Utilizing the city as their canvas and technology as their medium, this is truly a unique collaboration. “Beyond Monday” pushes the boundaries of modern digital art and marries the latest technologies in electronic music, motion design and film.
(This was supposed to be posted yesterday — I’m gonna keep it all the same) Happy 420 folks! On this glorious of glorious days, I bring you some new fire from Prowley Burglars. I hadn’t heard about these Netherland-dwelling electro masters until about a month or two ago. Don’t know how I slept on that one, but I am now well aware of their awesome, and so are you!
Anyways, pop this mix in when you’re on you’re way to the club, after you’ve had copious amounts of caffeine (or maybe if you haven’t and just need to wake the fuck up!), or maybe when you just need to get super stoked, because damn, this thing is heavy! Upon first glance, I was ready for some epic tunage — Santiago & Bushido’s Puttin’ it Down, Breakdown’s remix of Bounce Camp, and South African fidget king, Geoff K’s, I’m Fred Astair. So much good stuff going on in this mix. Pick it up while it’s still spicy hot!

Lately I have really been geeking out on this new record by Warp’s Gonjasufi. The record is titled “A Sufi and a Killer” and features production by The Gaslamp Killer, Flying Lotus, and Mainframe. Psychedellic hiphop beats with erie vocals make this record great for those hazy nights. Til next time…
Richie Panic is a staple in the Bay Area electronic music scene. You’ve probably been to one of his parties and you’ve probably heard his name. He’s played alongside so many big names, it would take too long to even begin a list (Justice, AC Slater, Diplo & Simian Mobile Disco to name a few). Back in 2002, Panic founded the legendary Frisco Disco in a small, unmarked bar in one of San Francisco’s seediest neighborhoods. It instantly became a success, so Panic soon took his act to bigger crowds with the start of Blow Up, a Friday night party where he was the featured resident DJ since its inception in 2005. Blow Up quickly became the destination for both up-and-coming and established DJs, with Richie Panic at the helm navigating who and what would be the next big thing.
With crowds selling out Blow Up every week, Panic gained a steady notoriety and popularity as one of San Francisco’s most iconic DJs. His meteoric rise gave way to bookings all over the country, as well as a European tour, and a series of mixes that that were virulent on every music blog. At home, Richie Panic’s reputation as a DJ with a definitive impact on the city’s nightlife was cemented when in both 2008 and 2009, Richie Panic was voted Best DJ in SFWeekly’s reader’s poll.
And in a most recent development, Blow Up SF was shut down! Apparently, the party was just a tad too crazy. There was a reunion party at Kelly’s Mission Rock on April 10th, so hopefully this awesome gathering can find a decent location and keep the awesome going.
He has just released his latest mix, right in time for Spring/Summer (minus the crap weather we’re having here in the Bay. When is this friggin’ rain going to stop?).
“Whether you are down in Miami, at the Castle in LA with Anne Lee, or getting weird at Club EB this is an essential BBQ. BOOZE, and BARCA LOUNGER mix. Smoke what you got, grill up some pills, and get mad blasted…”
