I recently found information of Native-Instruments releasing a Traktor specific controller, due mid February 2010. I also found this sweet video of Richie Hawtin using them live @ Saturday Adventure Club! MMM sexy controllerism, and he’s using Maschine live too!

I got the idea to post this when my friend Kyle was djing the other night. In the middle of his set he threw down this nasty loop that brought back memories from 1996. Needless to say, it was this track and it was a total banger! The crowd, including myself loved it, just goes to show you that a tune doesn’t have to be new to blow people’s minds.

In his stead today is his bored-at-work girlfriend! I asked to guest post because I got so excited by the announcement of a new Hot Chip album and US tour, which I’ve been waiting anxiously for two years for, that I had to share it with more people than just Facebook.

After a long wait, Hot Chip has finally announced the release date of their 4th album, “One Life Stand”, which is set to drop on February 8, 2010 – almost exactly two years since 2008’s Made in the Dark. Check out the first single “Take It In” here, which is available on their website if you pre-order the album. You might’ve heard the track before from May’s Bugged Out mix by Hot Chip, but this version is different. Also for download is Hot Chip’s cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing,” a great Hot Chip-ified a classic, which was actually released last year but if you haven’t heard it yet, you should.

Hot Chip, with trademark creative intrepidity and emotional intensity assisted by the vocal contrast of singers Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, offer a sneak peek to the rest of the new album with “Take It In”, which starts off a little dark and chilled out, but the chorus comes in strong and the song is actually as upbeat as some of the hits from “Made in the Dark”. Me like!

Oh My! here with my second installment of K.I.H.T. I’m coming back with some more hyphy-muzak. The first is from Bay Area kingpin, J-Diggs. I’ve been down with this track for awhile and I think it has a lot to do with the vox loop from Mac Dre. Something about a nice vocal loop in hip hop that gets me goin’ — probably something to do with my love for all that is electronic. Anyways, the beat is hard as fuck and the rhymes are nasty.

Next up is some crazy kids making some really weird stuff. I really wish I could nab this acapella and grab some loop / vox material, but I’m not quite sure how to get a hold of it. I hadn’t heard much about DCUP until I recently nabbed one of his tracks off Top Billin’. Upon some further investigation, I was able to find out that he was picked up by Sweat It Out in May, sitting along side the likes of Act Yo Age, KillaQueenz, Pablo Calamari and Yolanda Be Cool. This kid brings some seriously dirty disco music to the table. His remix for Pablo Calamari’s I Bought My Wife on the Black Market has horns, pan flutes, and even some delightful bloops!
