Last night, I went to the Wax Tailor show at Schuba’s Tavern here in the good ol’ windy city. One of the dopest shows ive ever been to, as he rolls up with an actual band. Those of you that live in California and Oregon, definitely check out his show as its one of the more unique hip-hop experiences you will likely have.

I just got back from the the last Slew show of the Kid Koala tour. It was definitely one of the must unique turntablism experiences I’ve ever had, but I would expect nothing less from Kid Koala. During his show, Kid Koala said that he posted the album on his website for free and I decided I would pass it along. The album has a rock and roll sound, with some nice cutting and scratching mixed in. Real dope. Everyone should give this a listen — if you’re a turntablism fan, a rock and roll fan, or if you just like good music in general.

The flutes in these next two dubstep grooves remind me of some shit straight outta’ Zelda! Skream, hailing from the UK, has already put out a whole host of top-notch dubsteppary, most notably his Gold Record acclaimed remix of La Roux’s “In for The Kill.” Offering up a nice subby wobble and some epic flute melodies, the track glides through 5 minutes of head nodding goodness! I imagine playing this one at a nice outside event while everybody’s hangin’ out in the sun…or something like that.

This one is a bit on the heavier side, putting up some well-chosen vox from the movie Snatch. I don’t know much about Enigma, except for that he’s young and from the UK.

Mikix The Cat joined the Trouble & Bass Crew in early/mid 2008, and has become a recognizable name in the land of big bass. He also operates under his other alias Momma’s Boy, releasing tracks falling into the subgeneres of house music, such as Wedouwedou (Direct Link), released on one of my favorite labels, Sound Pellegrino. Anyways, this kid puts out some seriously hard, bass-driven party blasters. This next track explodes after about a minute in, delivering a power-packed wobble and eventually some nice bouncy horn samples / vox stabs from KC & The Sunshine Band’s original. I love it!
